Thai Culture and Food festival is held in Melbourne Australia every year at Federation Square. The day is great opportunity for the Thai community of Melbourne and anyone with an interest in Thailand, Thai Culture or Thai Food to meet up and enjoy the sounds, sights and tastes of Thailand in a day of fun right in the city center.
The Thai festival in 2015 was the 12th year the festival has been going and it continues to get bigger and better every year.
The day started at 10am on the main stage with a Buddhist Ceremony. After the ceremony the community was invited to make offerings to the monks. The 9 monks were from Melbourne Thai Buddhist Temple in Box Hill, Victoria and Buddha Bodhivana Monastery in Warburton, Victoria ( See links below ).
The main stage also played host to a Thai Drum Parade / himmapan Dance, Songkran Dance, Harvesting Dance, Tribal Dance, Thai Beauty Contest, plus lots more.
In the “Thai Village” there was Flower Making Demonstrations, Fruit Carving, Thai Desserts Making, face Painting, and Trinket Sales, Thai Products, Thai massage and much more great information.
Over at Deakin Edge there was Muay Thai demonstration throughout the day, with 10 exhibition fights in total. This attraction and demonstration proved to be very popular with those attending.
The night ended with a Thai Cabaret Ladyboy show in the Singha Beer Garden, this was also a big hit with the crowd.
The Singha beer garden was great value with a Thai music and Singha beer available.
